As I write to you, I am not writing from any theories or studies that have been done, but I am writing to you from my own personal experiences. I say that to let you know that when I write, I am not inconsiderate as to how many things are easier said than done. I know that many things we want to accomplish in life are very hard to start, but once we start them, it becomes easier to continue doing them. For example, once you have made the decision to get up and make your bed, you're more likely to continue cleaning the rest of your room. The bed looks so great, but it would look even better if the room was totally clean. So, because you made the first initial step to make the bed, it was easier to just go ahead and clean the whole room.
Well, that's what it's like to step outside of your comfort zone for the very first time. It seems very uncomfortable at first and you would rather not do it. But, once you decide to do it, it makes it a bit easier to do it again if the opportunity arises. One of the biggest things I've learned about stepping outside of your comfort zone and accomplishing your dreams is, "if the actions to accomplish your dreams do not require you to step out of your comfort zone, they are not big enough." Accomplishing your dreams and stepping outside of your comfort zone are collaborators to making things happen. You cannot have one without the other if you desire to be successful. Everyone has the ability to be successful, but not everyone is willing to do what it takes to get there. Many people allow the discouraging words of others, delays, and the word "no" to stop them. Understand that during the process you may receive a "no", even though you know that you were supposed to be pursuing that specific thing. Do not let "no's" on the way to success stop you.
"Hearing the word "no" should never be enough to make you give up and quit."
Many of the greatest inventors, entertainers, and employees were once told "no" before they reached their goal. Do not let the word "no" cause you to crawl back into your comfort zone. Make a daily decision to accomplish your goals and step outside of your comfort zone. Many times the very thing that we are desiring is waiting for us on the other side of our comfort zone, and with Faith, Perseverance, and Patience you can get the things you desire the most.
"If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten."
Faith: This is essential for accomplishing any goal. If you do not believe you can do it, why should anyone else? This is the foundation for getting the things you want out of life. You must believe, no matter what the situation looks like, that you CAN and WILL accomplish your goals. The stronger your Faith, the easier it becomes to focus on the goal and not what it may look like to get there. It will not always look promising, there will be tough days, but you WILL accomplish the goal if you endure.
Perseverance: The next key to getting out of your comfort zone and accomplishing your goals is to persevere. You may hear the word "no", you may have doubters, you may even come across some setbacks or stumbling blocks. This is not the time to give up, this is the time to push harder. Nothing in life thats worth having will come without hard work. Even love requires us to endure long-suffering, constantly forgive, and keep no record of wrongdoing. So how much more will your biggest dreams require such things? You will need to persevere to accomplish your goals, which means building up your Faith strong enough to block out the haters, understand "no" may mean not yet or try again, and having confidence that you can do anything you set your mind to.
Patience: None of the above will work if you cannot be patient. Patience is not just simply waiting. Patience is waiting with the right attitude. While things are working together for your good (Romans 8:28) you must learn to keep a great attitude. Of course everyday will not be simply the best day ever, but even on those days we have to choose to count our blessings and be grateful anyway. I would hate for you to be an hour away from what you have been working hard towards and you turn away and give up, because you could not endure the waiting period. Our society wants things instantly, but nothing worth actually having ever came without patience. Endure with gladness and watch your dream come true.
"This process is not comfortable, hence the reason it's called getting out of your comfort zone. But more than anything you're in a position to win as soon as you make the decision to do it."
