Hello! Hope everyone is having a great week! This week I wanted to chat with you really quickly about what I call "The Silent Hour." The Silent Hour is an exercise that allows for us to take one hour daily to sit in silence. I always love to do this once I get off of work to calm myself and reflect on my day. During this hour there is no use of cellphones, television, or entertainment of any sort. It is just simply one hour to sit back, breathe deeply, and reflect on your day. I understand everyone has different schedules so after work may not work for you, but anytime within the 24 hour day, find at least one hour you can take to sit in silence.
Why? Well I have learned after practicing this exercise for over a few years now, that my stress levels are basically zero, I make better decisions, and I have a much more positive attitude. It is important to the health of our mind, body, and spirit that we take the time to rest and reflect.
How does it affect your mind, body, and spirit?
Your Mind: Helps you clearly sort through your decisions you've made throughout the day, think of ways you can improve your decision making skills, and sort through information given to you more efficiently.
Your Body: Helps you make better eating choices, helps you easily identify what foods are making you more sluggish and/or moody, and decreases stress levels within your body by helping you identify what things are causing the stress.
Your Spirit: Helps you clearly identify areas for growth, helps you better determine if you have been spending adequate time with God, and also increases your willingness to communicate more with God.
This exercise has helped me tremendously and I have seen how it has impacted others as well. I urge you to try this and see how much your life changes, but take at least one hour daily to sit back, breathe deeply, and reflect.
P.S. This is also a great exercise to do before making any huge decisions. Depending on how much time you have before making the decision, take at least an hour to sit back, breathe deeply, and reflect on God's word. This has given me peace to make so many big decisions in my life and I'm positive it will help you too!
