It's easy to become discouraged when we focus on who we used to be and not who we are becoming. Lately, many people have voiced that they feel unworthy, because of the things that they have done in the past. I want to let you know that everything that has brought you to where you are today can be used for your good. If you do not believe me, it even says it in the bible, Romans 8:28 "And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them." Each and every one of us has a purpose in life and our past is part of that purpose. Let your past be a testimony to the others, that even though my past looked unfavorable, my future now looks very favorable, because I made the decision to do better.
I recently had a friend who decided to stop having sex, because she knew she was worth more, and wanted to wait for marriage. She received so much backlash from others telling her she was too old and it was too late to start doing that. Don't allow the words of others to dictate your life, because it's your life not theirs. If you have recently made the decision to stop smoking or drinking, or engaging in pre-marital sex, or any other lifestyle changes do not let anyone talk you out of doing so based on who you used to be. Real friends will support your decision to make better changes.
There will be people who will criticize you and try to constantly remind you of who you used to be and what you used to do. After you let them know that who you were back then is irrelevant to who you are now. Remove them from your life, they are toxic, and they will not help you but hinder you on your journey to Greater. If you feel as if you won't fit in if you stop certain behaviors remember that you were not made to fit in anyway. You were created to stand out and make a difference, not blend in.
Negative patterns, people, and things from your past will try to creep up when you have decided to make a change for better. This is where you have to use the encouraging words of God to defeat the lies of the past. You are worthy, you are loved, and your future is greater than your past.
I love you all so much and I hope this quick encouraging word truly inspired someone today to make a change towards a better life. Remember, the best days of your life are on the way, your later will be greater. Have a great day!
