Next to family, friends will be the most important people influencing your life. It is so crucial that you are wise in choosing great people to surround yourself with. Friends should help you grow, encourage you, pray for you, and so much more. The scriptures below emphasize that even God knew how important friendships would be to us and how they would affect us. If you are in need of great friends, pray and ask for them. Throughout my college career I lived in new cities and states and before arriving, I prayed for great friends. I am beyond blessed to say that God has blessed me with some amazing friends every step of the way.
The Golden Rule I recently adapted and has changed how I operate when it comes to disagreements or opposing ideas is this: An argument is to determine "WHO IS RIGHT," but a discussion is to determine "WHAT IS RIGHT." Have discussions and drop the need to argue, it is not worth it for Proverbs 18:19 says, "An offended friend is harder to win back than a fortified city. Arguments separate friends like a gate locked with bars."
"One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother." Proverbs 18:24
"Many say they are loyal friends, but who can find one who is truly reliable?"- Proverbs 20:6
"Even my best friend, the one I trusted completely, the one who shared my food, has turned against me."- Psalms 41:9
" They visit me as if they were my friends, but all the while they gather gossip, and when they leave, they spread it everywhere."- Psalm 41:6
"A troublemaker plants seeds of strife; gossip separated the best of friends."- Proverbs 16:28
"An offended friend is harder to win back than a fortified city. Arguments separate friends like a gate locked with bars."- Proverbs 18:19
"Love prospers when a fault is forgiven, but dwelling on it separates close friends."- Proverbs 17:9
"A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity."- Proverbs 17:17
