First, I want to apologize for the short term absence. It has been a very busy summer and I have been working on many exciting things that will be coming up soon, including an App that should be finished by the end of the summer. The exciting thing about this month is that not only is it my birth month, but it is also the birth month for She Me We. During the month of July last year, the idea for creating this blog was birthed. For me, July represents birth, which means the "Start of life or a new thing." Which led me to really wanting to talk about birthing of purpose and why our purpose is so much bigger than just us.
"Purpose: the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists."
Whether you know what your purpose is right now or not, everyone on this earth has one. We were created to each do so much on this earth and unless we begin to pursue and fulfill our purpose, we will never experience all that God has for us. Everyone on this earth was uniquely created with a certain set of abilities, gifts, and talents. Even more, we were created for all of those abilities, gifts, and talents to be used for greatness. What we see today though, is only a small portion of people actually pursuing greatness. There are so many people who chose not to fulfill their purpose and have never seen all the things God had in store for them.
WHAT STOPS US? The top three things that stop us from pursuing our purpose or staying motivated to be the greatest at what we do are Other People, Low Self-Esteem, and Fear of Failure. "You will never be the greatest if you care more about what people think of you, than you care about what you know about you." So many people care too much about what others think causing them to never push to be more or never breaking out of their shell and going after what they truly are called to do. We allow people to influence our decision making, not grasping that any decision you make is yours to make and you will have to deal with the consequences of that decision, not anyone else. Many times others love to speak on your behalf and influence you to do what they think is best, most of the time playing it small and safe. No one ever became great playing small, the greatest were dedicated and daily put time into their craft to become the greatest. If you stay slave to what others have to say about your dreams, you will never reach them. God did not give them your purpose, He gave you your purpose. It is your job to seek Him always concerning your purpose, and when you do need help or support He will send the right people. Caring about the opinion of others is connected to Low Self-Esteem, and Low Self-Esteem will only rob you of your dreams. No matter what situation you were born into, no matter what people have said about your life, and no matter what you may have seen so far concerning your life, YOU STILL MATTER! Everyone on this earth was created equally, God saw fit for you to have life, a purpose, and that alone says that you matter. No one on this earth is better than anyone, so never be intimidated by the wealth, fame, or influence of another person.
"Then God said, "Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us." Genesis 1:26
We are made in God's image and likeness which means that no one was made higher that's here on this earth. We envy celebrities and the greatest of athletes instead of realizing that we can become as great or greater than them. Our fear of failure kicks in and we choose to continue to play it safe and small. Understand that even the greatest have failed before. We will all fail in this lifetime, but the great thing is that after we fail we have the choice to get up and keep going. Many people fail and stay down, they take failure as a sign that they cannot do something instead of accepting the challenge of never giving up. I have always had the mentality that no one was better than anyone and that mentality has gotten me very far, even at a young age. It is not that I have confidence in my own abilities, but that I have confident in the God who gave me my purpose. If He said I can do something, that's the only "yes" I needed. Whatever He says we can do, we can do!
WHAT HELPS US?
The top three things that will help you fulfill your purpose are "Your Why", Consistency, and Support. "Your Why" is the reason you are doing what you do. "Your Why" is the motivation behind why you have chose to continue to do something. The reason so many people may reach a certain status, but never become the greatest is that their "why" is usually self-centered. If "Your Why" is solely money, cars, and nice things you have missed the point and will never become the greatest. Many people think that because you have money, you fulfilled your purpose, and that is where many are wrong. If you notice many celebrities or people that society see as the greatest still tend to be unhappy and unsatisfied. That's because our purpose in life is bigger than money, cars, and things. Our purpose is to change the lives of others so that together we can live peacefully and abundantly. When I went to college I didn't go just for me, I went so that my nieces, nephews, and younger cousins would have the way paved for them to go. When I write a blog or make a video its not myself that I have in mind, it is others. My "why" is to see others live a better life, and in return God has made sure I am living a better life. While I am pursuing my purpose, I am focused on others, therefore in return God makes sure I am well taken care of. My motto is I want money only if it's with God, I do not want money if God is not in it. There is nothing wrong with desiring wealth, cars, and nice things, the problem is when that is your only motivation or reason for doing anything. Despite what you see on TV or what you have been led to believe, LOVE is the surviving factor in this world. If you do not have Love, you do not have anything. Money cannot buy you Love, it can only buy you temporary satisfaction which will never be completely satisfying. When I devote my life to helping others, in return I receive a Joy and Peace that cannot be explained. Being able to wake up and do what you love, while blessing others and being blessed is "My Why." And it brings Love, Faith, Strength, Wealth, and Peace to my life overall. But with that I had to be consistent in working hard, staying motivated, and keeping the reason why in front of me. Our purposes are bigger than just us, our lives should constantly be a motivating factor for someone else. We are connected to another persons life whether we know it or not. Our purpose is linked to helping someone else and we never know the lives we can impact with our specific set of abilities, gifts, and talents. The last thing that pushes us is support, because there will be times that you want to quit, but support will help you persevere. Support can come from people that God has sent to be a help, scriptures, and so many other different avenues. The best support of all for me has been having a relationship with Christ. It is unexplainable the amount of support you get when you know Christ. If He is with you, no one can be against you. Also, find a grinding partner, someone who is willing to grind with you on the easy days and the tough days. No one ever got to the top alone here on this earth. We all need others, and others need us. Grab a support crew that is loyal, dedicated, and has the same goal in mind as you, then get to work. NOW...Not next week, not when you feel like it, but start now. Of course it will not happen overnight, nothing great is birthed in 24 hours. All ideas, plans, and goals take time, effort, and dedication. Start NOW!
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR NEW BIRTH...IT'S PURPOSE!!! THE WORLD IS WAITING FOR IT'S UNVEILING...
